Congratulations
to everyone involved with bringing Dorada Foods to
Ponca City
especially Ponca City Development Authority! What a great announcement
event on Monday at City Hall. 350 jobs early next year that is awesome!

Community
Wide Holiday Giveaway Committee met Monday. Erin Liberton with City
National Bank is the Chair. We have a lot of businesses signing up to
participate this year. Thank you so much! The more participants we
have the bigger the promotion and more dollars to
Ponca City
!! Contact our office if you want more information on the largest retail
promotion in
Oklahoma
and
Kansas
! Last year was record setting!

Tuesday
evening I attended a Ribbon Cutting Event in
Tulsa
for the new State Chamber Office located downtown on
Boston Avenue
. There is now an office in OKC and
Tulsa
.
·
We had
a super crowd at the Ribbon Cutting Event for A.I.M. Dance Studio on Wednesday.
It is owned by Mandy Tebow and is located downtown at 204 East Central.

I
attended the announcement at
Northern
Oklahoma
College
of the 1.6 million dollar gift to the NOC Foundation by Ima Berglund on
Wednesday. This gift will be a great benefit to NOC Students!

We
completed the September Chamber Newsletter this week. It will be mailed
out on Tuesday. Please read about all the activity we have coming up in
September.

Our
next Lunch and Learn is Tuesday September 21st from 11:30 a.m. –
1:30 p.m. at
Pioneer
Technology
Center
. It includes lunch and is only $12 per person. This Lunch and Learn
topic is on “managing your time”. Please phone the Chamber Office
765-4400 if you plan to attend.

The
Oklahoma Film Commission phoned this week and wanted a photograph of a
particular item in
Ponca City
. I took the photo and sent it to them right away. You never know
what might come of this!

for details. Janet Martin with Eastman National Bank is going to be the
2010-2011 PIE Chair!

Education
and Workforce Development Committee met on Thursday. Raj Phansalkar
retired Conoco is the Chair. They heard reports from
Ponca City
Schools
,
University
Center
and
Pioneer
Technology
Center
. They also had a presentation from Rick Pool on Ready by 21. They
also heard from Robert Snyder on the Ombudsman Program.

We have
started working on our 2011 Chamber Directory. This is an outstanding
publication promoting our Chamber Members and
Ponca City
. Johnnie Cael will be phoning you about advertising space. I hope

: We have now traveled 490 miles.
We only have 20 more miles to go and we have crossed our beautiful state of
Oklahoma
!! We are now in the town of
Quapaw
in the heart of Quapaw country. The name "Quapaw" is a
derivative of the tribal term Ugakhpa, meaning "down stream people."
The Quapaw Tribe own one of
Oklahoma
’s most spectacular casinos the Downstream Casino Resort just off I-44.

is in the running for a 250,000 grant to offer Free therapeutic riding and
